Importance of Aesthetics in Marketing Meetup Summary

Los Angeles Web Design studio, Variable8, hosts the February L.A. Marketing Meet Up group on February 4th, 2010. It was a success. It was spectacular. The knowledge shared was phenomenal. Only those who attend will be able to describe how it truly was, but we will show a glimpse of some of the key elements that were discussed.

Concerning your brand’s name and look:

  • simple is always better
  • memorable domain (domainers example – lapaydayloans.com)
  • timelessness (why helvetica still works)
  • spacing / kerning (the frustration poorly spaced type and design creates)
  • giving your brand a meaning (negative space hammer project from pacific design center)
  • theme your products’ names & design (onev8, variable8, tutoriables)

Topics oc concern about your marketing and presentation:

  • associate with power symbols (target’s target, mercedes’ peace symbol)
  • associate with high class imagery
  • targetted colors/fonts (black and white feels different than white and blue)
  • above the fold design (performance/action oriented design)

Question a good designer would ask you before beginning work

  • site persona – how YOU WANT your visitors view your product/company (if your company were an employee…)

These are just some of the points covered, and obviously the presence, environment, energy, synergy and people there cannot be replicated with words. To get the maximum exposure of knowledge and valuable industry insider information that, in my opinion, is worth thousands and thousands of dollars, you would have to show up to the next meetup. http://meetup.com/lamarketing/

In this meetup, we also disclosed the fact that house had top secret affiliate marketing technology, and we were able to show the 1 inch tip of the hundred mile iceberg of what kind of affiliate marketing technology we use for our loyal clients and customers that swear by our company and brand.
